Voice & microphone help
Listen first. Take the mic when you are ready.
Enter Pakistan lounge →Enter a room
After you enter, UrduPal tries to connect you as a listener. Your microphone and camera stay off. Listening does not need microphone permission.
If Chrome pauses playback, press Enable audio. If you left voice, press Join voice to listen again.
Raise your hand
Select Raise hand to join the queue. Wait for your mic turn, then select Unmute mic. Allow microphone access when Chrome asks. One person speaks at a time.
Use Pass mic when finished. Muting your mic does not stop you from hearing the room.
Allow your microphone
- Open UrduPal in Chrome over HTTPS.
- Select the site controls icon beside the address, then Site settings.
- Set Microphone to Allow. Reload if Chrome asks.
- Join voice, raise your hand and unmute during your turn.
On Android, check Chrome Settings → Site settings → Microphone, plus Chrome’s microphone permission in your phone settings. On iPhone, check microphone access for Chrome in iOS Settings. Menu names vary by device.
No sound?
Chrome is blocking audio
Press Enable audio in the voice bar. Check that the browser tab is not muted and Sound is allowed in Chrome site settings. Turn up device volume and check whether sound is going to Bluetooth headphones.
The room is quiet or voice is full
Someone must have the mic and unmute before you hear them. Rooms currently allow up to eight voice participants, including listeners; the owner may set a lower limit. If full, stay in text chat and try Join voice later.
My microphone is allowed but nobody hears me
Check your mic turn and Unmute mic button. Choose the correct microphone in Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Microphone. Also check your operating system’s microphone permissions. Work or school devices may need an administrator.
Voice keeps connecting or breaks up
Leave voice and join again. Try another network, close other calls and use headphones. Direct peer connections can fail on restrictive networks. A relay is not available on every deployment; microphone permissions cannot fix a missing network route.
What other people can hear
Entering does not open your microphone. Only unmute when you want to speak. Camera sharing is optional and has its own permission. Voice connects to other participants and may reveal your network address. UrduPal does not record live voice or camera streams; other participants may record them.
